[Course introduction]
"Xinwu sphenoid ganglion acupuncture method", invented by Professor Li Xinwu, a world-renewed expert in otolaryngology at Beijing Tongren Hospital, is the designated inheritance project of Beijing Heritage Base of the World Federation of Acupuncture and Moxibustion Society (WFAS). This acupuncture technology has a specific curative effect on rhinitis. It is such a fine medical technics that students must watch carefully and have hands-on practice under the teacher’s supervision so as to grasp the essential practical knowledge.
Professor Li Xinwu has been in his 90s years old. In the 1960s, he discovered a special acupuncture point for treating nasal diseases. This acupoint was named after his name "Xinwu Point" (also known as "Butterfly Point"). He discovered this acupoint and acupuncture technique after treating more than 200,000 patients over several decades. In recent years, his teachings have been spread and promoted to more than 10 countries and 30 cities and regions in China and abroad. The method of needling for this acupoint is very unique, and the immediate treatment effects have aroused widespread attention in the acupuncture community. It has become an educational and a technological promotion project for Chinese medicine by the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, which is loved and highly valued by acupuncture and otolaryngology professionals at all levels of medical institutions and communities.
Dr. Chen Luquan is the director of Beijing Heritage Base and the inheritor of the “Professor Li Xinwu Chinese Medicine Studio”. He will be the instructor of this course. In this lecture, the daytime class will be on the theoretical and the clinical acupuncture operation demonstration plus experience; the evening practice class will be a clinical acupuncture operation exercise, through one-on-one, face-to-face teaching, and learning.

Dr. Chen Luquan, Ph.D., graduated from Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, is a deputy chief physician and the head of the acupuncture department of Beijing Tongren Hospital. He is the director of the World Federation of Acupuncture and Moxibustion Beijing Heritage Base. As Professor Li Xinwu Pro-disciple, Dr. Chen is the main inheritor of Li Xinwu traditional Chinese medicine studio. He is a member of the Standing Committee of the First Youth Committee of the Chinese Acupuncture Association. He is specialized at using a combination of Chinese and Western medicine such as acupuncture and Chinese medicine to treat ENT diseases including rhinitis, and aesthetic diseases. He has published more than 10 professional papers, including 4 SCI papers, in major medical journals. He has published 10 professional books as the editor-in-chief or an editor, including "Chinese Medicine for Beauty", an examination preparation book for beauty attending physicians, "Chinese Medicine" and "Acupuncture" textbooks (English version) of Capital Medical University, and participated in the writing of the first guideline for allergic rhinitis treatment (English version) in China. He has hosted and participated in 20 national, provincial and ministerial-level research projects, with an annual outpatient volume of more than 7,000. He has long been responsible for the academic lectures of the Capital Medical University and the World Health Organization Beijing International Acupuncture Training Center and has been highly praised colleagues from all over the world.
