Xinhua News Agency, New York, June 12 (Reporter Yang Shilong) World Federation of Acupuncture, Inheritance Base for Acupuncture-Moxibustion of TCM WFAS is in New York. Liu Baoyan, Chairman of the World Federation of Acupuncture, and Ma Ying, Secretary-General, officially awarded the American Acupuncture Association and the New York Natural Acupuncture & Wellness in New York that night.
Hong Borong, president of the American TCM Association, said in his speech that the establishment of the American Acupuncture and Moxibustion Base is a milestone in the education of Chinese medicine and acupuncture in the United States, which will help to inherit and enhance the development of Chinese acupuncture technology and culture in the United States.
Chen Decheng, dean of the New York Center for Natural Acupuncture & Wellness,said that after the establishment of the base, the New York will be the start ofthe academic information exchange between American practitioners of traditional Chinese medicine, and continue to make efforts for standardization,and internationalization of Chinese medicine acupuncture.
Xing Jijun, Counselor of the Chinese Consulate-General in New York, Gu Yaming, a Chinese-American member of the New York City, and nearly 100 representatives from various groups of Chinese medicine acupuncture academics in New York attended the ceremony.
The American Acupuncture Association was established in the 1970s and has done a lot of work in promoting the legalization of Chinese acupuncture and moxibustion in the United States and the inclusion of acupuncture in the US health care payment program. The New York Natural Acupuncture & Wellness was established in 2004 and has extensive teaching experience and clinical strength.
The Inheritance Base for Acupuncture-Moxibustion of TCM WFAS NY U.S. is the eighth inheritance base of the World Federation of Acupuncture in the world and the only inheritance base in the United States. Previously, the World Federation of Acupuncture had a heritage base in Beijing, Harbin, Macau and other places in China, as well as in Toronto, Canada and Budapest, Hungary.
Founded in 1987, World Federation of Acupuncture is an international consortium with a formal working relationship with the World Health Organization and is headquartered in Beijing. In 2010, Chinese medicine acupuncture was included in the UNESCO List of Representatives of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
